Every year, nine states across the country allow the hunting of migratory birds. Among the birds slaughtered are many rare species of swans like the Trumpeter Swan.

Everybody Needs a Friend. Be a Friend to a Swan.

Born the son of a hunter, Ellis always felt that attacking animals in their natural habitat was not only cruel but counterintuitive to the overall health of local ecosystems.

Ellis always had a soft spot in his heart for animals, but he especially always had an infatuation with birds. "As a child, I would often kneel in my father's cornfield and pray to God that he would make me a bird so I could fly far far away," Ellis recalls as he speaks to children in elementary schools across the Western United States.

After personally witnessing the massacre of many beautiful migratory birds in Utah, Ellis started his foundation, Friends of Swans, in 2021 as a way to create awareness and to stop the killing of essential fowl in his local ecosystem.  His selfless dream has saved thousands of young swans (cygnets) from freezing and starving to death as a result of the hunting of adult parents.

His dedication to the longevity of swans and other migratory birds will continue to impact generations of all species, including humans; as he continues to stop careless hunters in their lust for blood. Ellis is a shining example of compassion and that compassion shines through Friends of Swans
